GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY
GNM or General Nursing Midwifery is a three and a half-year diploma course in the field of Nursing. Students who wish to pursue GNM diploma can proceed after passing their class 12 exam with Science stream. The three year and half-year course includes six-months of mandatory internship. GNM diploma course is one of the sort out course which can be considered as a stepping stone towards making a career in the Nursing field. Graduates of GNM diploma can start their career by working with government and private hospitals and clinics.
ELIGIBILITY
The conducting body along with the Indian Nursing Council (INC) has set the eligibility criteria for the West Bengal GNM Nursing programme. Below are the criteria:
- Candidates should have passed Class 12 from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or from any recognized Council/Board securing a minimum of 40 per cent in aggregate.
- The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years and a maximum of 27 years.
- The candidate should be an Indian national and a permanent resident of the District of West Bengal.
- The candidate should be able to read, write and speak in Bengali or Nepali.
- Vocational Agriculture or Vocational Home Science Students can also apply.
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The process for GNM nursing admission 2022 follows the various steps mentioned below:
- GNM Nursing Application : Nursing aspirants first have to begin with an online/ offline application.
- Issue of Admit Cards : After the successful submission of application forms, the applicants need to downloaded admit cards to appear in the exam.
- Appear for the Entrance Exam: It is necessary to appear for the entrance exam.
- Result Announcement : After the successful conclusion of the entrance the competent authority will release the result based on the performance of the candidate in the entrance exam.
- Release of Cut off List : The conducting body after releasing the result will release the cut off list, which is the minimum qualifying marks and candidates have to fulfil the requirement of complying with the cut off to secure GNM nursing admission.
- Counselling : Based on the merit list, the counselling process for GNM Nursing will be conducted.
- Seat Allotment : On the basis of counselling and the candidates’ score they will be allotted seats to their choice of colleges.
- Reporting to the College : After seat allotment, candidates have to report at the institutes to further the admission process.
